First introduced to Malta in 1875 by renowned UK brewers H & G Simonds, Hopleaf quickly became a favourite among the British Crown Forces stationed on the island. Its signature red hop leaf emblem spread across military outposts and pubs throughout the Empire, making the brand a global symbol of quality ale.
In 1929, the merger of H & G Simonds with the Farrugia family's brewing operations laid the foundations for today's Simonds Farsons Cisk plc, cementing Hopleaf's role as a pioneer in Malta's beer culture. By the mid-20th century, Hopleaf Pale Ale stood as a dominant player in the local market before consumer preferences gradually shifted towards lagers. Today, Hopleaf is reclaiming its place at the forefront of Malta's beer scene. ABV 3.5%.
