The Cause for Applause employee recognition programme recently brought together colleagues from across the Farsons Group to celebrate individuals whose commitment, professionalism and dedication continue to strengthen the organisation's culture and success.
Cause for Applause comprises two distinct recognition programmes: the STRIDE Recognition Awards, which are based on the Group's core values and recognise employees nominated by management teams, and the Peer-to-Peer Recognition Awards, which celebrate employees nominated directly by their colleagues.
This year, the programme attracted a total of 37 management nominations for the STRIDE Recognition Awards and 81 peer-to-peer nominations, reflecting a workplace culture where colleagues actively acknowledge and appreciate one another's contributions. The STRIDE nominations were evaluated by the Group's Senior Leadership Team led by Michael Farrugia, while the peer-to-peer awards were assessed by an employee committee representing different areas of the business.
The event marked the first Cause for Applause celebration hosted by Michael Farrugia in his role as Group Chief Executive. Reflecting on the occasion, he described the programme as an opportunity to recognise the people whose efforts and commitment continue to shape the organisation.
"Very few generations have the privilege of taking a company into its second century. We do. And with that unique opportunity comes the responsibility to remain true to the culture and values that define us, and to leave Farsons stronger for those who come after us."
Michael Farrugia highlighted the importance of preserving the culture and values that have supported the Group's growth over the decades, noting that Farsons' success has always been built on the commitment of its people, their willingness to support one another and their determination to continuously improve.
Addressing attendees, Tonio Mifsud Bonnici, Group Head of HR, highlighted the importance of employee recognition and the role it plays in fostering engagement, collaboration and organisational success.
"Our values remain words on paper until people bring them to life through their everyday actions. Every single employee contributes to our shared mission, and it is through the hard work and commitment of our people that we continue to move this company forward every day."
In his address, Tonio Mifsud Bonnici also emphasised the importance of cross-functional collaboration, continuous improvement, safety, sustainability and good governance, while acknowledging the positive impact that employees make on their teams and colleagues through their daily actions.
The STRIDE Recognition Awards recognised employees across the Group's six core values of Success, Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, Dynamism and Excellence, with award recipients representing a diverse range of business functions including logistics, manufacturing, sales, finance, hospitality, marketing, corporate services and human resources.
The Peer-to-Peer Recognition Awards were presented under the categories of Positive Influencer and Quiet Leadership, recognising employees whose actions, leadership and support of others have had a meaningful impact on colleagues and workplace culture.
Congratulating all nominees and award recipients, both Tonio Mifsud Bonnici and Michael Farrugia thanked employees for their dedication and contribution to the organisation, recognising the vital role they play in the continued success of the Farsons Group.
The evening concluded with the Group Summer BBQ, providing colleagues with an opportunity to celebrate together and strengthen the relationships and sense of community that continue to define the Farsons workplace culture. Entertainment throughout the evening was provided by Fakawi.
