The Farsons Group is seeking to recruit a Head of its Human Resources function, to lead its Human Resources Team and to work in partnership with its business areas to provide a professional HR and organisational development service that is focused on the Group’s vision and drives performance enhancement.  Reporting to the Group Chief Executive, the selected professional will have a critical role in developing HR strategies, taking initiative and implementing business and workforce initiatives which support the Group’s business plans and objectives. 

The selected professional will:

  • Assume overall responsibility for the development and implementation of the Group’s HR strategies, contributing to and aligned with the Group’s vision and annual business plans;
  • Support the HR strategy with the design and implementation of appropriate structures, policies, procedures and initiatives;
  • Plan, develop, establish, implement and manage the HR function and budgets aligned to the Group’s objectives towards s/he also contributes, driving for the attainment of set targets;
  • Lead, manage and motivate the HR team, delegating and assigning responsibilities to ensure that the HR function operates smoothly, proactively and efficiently within agreed budgets;
  • Be accountable for the Group’s industrial relations and negotiations, also providing operational support to management on industrial and employee relations matters to ensure high standards are met and Group performance is not jeopardized;
  • Lead employer branding efforts and actively participate in fora to strengthen the Group’s long-standing reputation;
  • Design and implement effective and innovative structures and schemes for the attraction and retention of talent, including continuing to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders such as MCAST;
  • Keep updated with emerging legislation, trends, styles and techniques in HRM aimed at adopting and implementing appropriate value adding change initiatives within the Group and acting as transformation agent wherever necessary;
  • Drive the Group’s HRIS to ensure that its agreed objectives are met, and that timely information and reporting are achieved to support decision-making processes;
  • Provide support to Management as may be required and ensure that the Group’s culture and strong values are enhanced and embedded within the organization.

Most critically, the selected professional will be expected to:

  • Ideally have a post graduate level of education in HRM, Organisational Psychology, Business or a related field; a first-degree level of education in any of these areas is essential;
  • Have at least 5 years’ experience in senior management within a large organization, ideally within the manufacturing industry;
  • Have experience in working with Trade Unions and conflict resolution as well as in developing HR strategies and policies coupled with practical experience in the field;
  • Be IT literate and have familiarity with HR Systems and Analytics and related tools;
  • Be able to communicate effectively in Maltese and English.

This senior management position requires a professional who is visionary and strategic, has the ability to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships and support across the organization in order to drive the next level of achievement and to implement an effective plan of action to support the long-term objectives of the Farsons Group.
