The final preparations for the kick off of the 30th edition of The Farsons Great Beer Festival are underway. The festival starts tonight, 8pm onwards at Ta’ Qali Park, and runs until Sunday, 1st August 2010. Sponsored by Vodafone, Camay Shower Gel and Banif Bank, this edition will feature the best in local talent and the finest beers on the island. Entrance is free.

The Farsons Great Beer Festival has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1981, when the first edition was held at the Farsons Brewery in Mriehel. Organised at Ta’ Qali Park for the last nine years, the festival has grown to become the largest outdoor music festival in Malta

The line-up of performances for this weekend is as follows:

Satuday, 24th July: Christabelle, Crosswalk, Freddie Portelli
Sunday, 25th July: Claudia Faniello Band, Versatile Brass Band, Elvis Tribute Show with Elvis Tenderly

The main attraction of the festival is however, the beers. A large choice of local beer brands will be available at the festival, from the award-winning Cisk range of beers to the classic beers, Hopleaf Pale Ale and Blue Label Ale. International beer brands Carlsberg, Budweiser, Guinness, Kilkenny, John Smith’s Extra Smooth, Beck’s, and Corona will also be available throughout the festival. As in previous years, the food court offers a mix of dishes from all over the world to complement the vast range of beers on offer. The official festival beer mug will be sold at the bars with the beer of choice or at the souvenir stall selling other special brand merchandise.

Two Air Malta flight tickets to Vienna, Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Hamburg, Dusseldorf and Berlin, as well as Home Trends gifts will be given away every night.

Other sponsors of the festival are Walkers, Home Trends, Alert Communications and Malta Tourism Authority. The Rock Stage is hosted by 89.7 Bay.
