After last year’s great success, the Basketball Promotion Unit organized two separate mini basketball 3-on-3 competitions which were sponsored once again by Kinnie and Eurosport. The girls’ tournament was held on 3rd May whilst the boys’ tournament was held on 16th May.

In all, 12 schools participated in the tournaments with 24 different teams. In the girls competition Team A of Sir Adrian Dingli School emerged the winners winning all of their games, with Maria Assumpta School placing second and St Dorothy’s School in third place. Team A of St Michael’s School came first in the boys competition also winning all their games, with Verdala Junior Lyceum placing second and Qormi Boys Secondary School finishing third.

“Kinnie has a long-standing relationship with the sport of basketball through its sponsorship of the Malta Basketball Association, as well as the mini basketball tournaments. These mini competitions are an ideal opportunity for Kinnie to connect with its young consumers,” said Lara Micallef, Kinnie Brand Executive at Simonds Farsons Cisk plc.

At the end of each tournament Mr. Leonard Falzon, Head of the Basketball Promotion Unit, thanked all the participating schools and the sponsors, and presented the trophies to the winning teams as well as a commemorative medal to each participant. The participating schools will also be receiving basketballs to help them promote the sport in their schools.
