T.G.I. Friday's helps Caritas Malta 3/10/2004

T.G.I. Friday’s contributed towards raising funds for the Drug Rehabilitation Centre of Caritas Malta during its 5th Anniversary celebrations.

The proceeds from the series of activities held during the celebration party at T.G.I. Friday’s went to a worthy cause at the Foundation for the Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers. A number of fun initiatives were organised. These ranged from a bottle-flaring exhibition by T.G.I. Friday’s bartenders, an all-you-can-eat competition with participants from Stompers and Kavallieri rugby team players, while X.FM Radio DJs were invited to serve guests and live entertainment was provided by Gianni & Friends and Ivan Filletti.

T.G.I. Friday’s sponsored rugby team, Stompers, made an extra effort on the following Sunday and they participated in a Truck Pull activity which was held along the Sliema seafront.  This event also aimed to raise funds for Caritas Malta.

Food Chain Holdings General Manager, Ms Stefania Conte, presented a cheque to Mr Anglu Fenech, Administrative Secretary from Caritas Malta, at T.G.I. Friday’s Bar and Restaurant in Sliema.  She said: “We are delighted and thankful to all those who participated in T.G.I. Friday’s 5th Anniversary celebrations and making it a success, including our crew members who have extended their support to this worthy cause.”

Caritas Malta works towards improving the many lives of people in difficulty, sharing its resources, working together with other social partners on programmes which raise public awareness, promoting human development, and voicing the rights of socially disadvantaged people.

Mr Anglu Fenech thanked T.G.I. Friday’s and said: “We are grateful for your generous support and for sharing the event’s revenue with us.  The awareness created from such activities help us to educate more people about the special needs of drug abusers, our programmes and support services.” The presentation was also attended by Mr Joe Gatt, Coordinator of New Hope Project at Caritas Malta.

Following this presentation, Ms Conte presented a memento gift to four employees in recognition of their five-year long service with T.G.I. Friday’s.  The pen-set gifts were presented to Reggie Siscar, Shaun Caruana, Jeanette Grech and Christian Grixti.

Ms Conte thanked the employees for their work and dedication and said: “Our Company not only attaches great importance to the continuous training of employees to ensure that we offer the best service to our customers but also values our loyal staff.”

The T.G.I. Friday’s franchise in Malta is operated by Simonds Farsons Cisk plc through its subsidiary, Food Chain Holdings Limited.
