President Guido de Marco pays an official visit to Farsons Brewery in Mriehel 12/17/2003

“Through its success, Farsons has ensured in consolidating itself as an important part of the industrial landscape of Malta.”

This was underlined by H.E. Prof. Guido de Marco, President of Malta, during an official visit to the Farsons brewery in Mriehel. The visit was held this morning on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the company.

The President was welcomed and accompanied throughout the course of his visit by Mr Bryan Gera and Mr Louis A. Farrugia, Group Chairman and Chief Executive respectively. Prof. de Marco, whilst meeting with the company employees, was explained the functions of various state-of-the-art machinery and computerized equipment, whilst observing the delicate process of brewing, bottling and packaging.

When addressing the Chairman, Chief Executive and General Managers, President de Marco, describing the Farsons brewery as avant garde, spoke about the positive fact that several individuals have been working within the Group for a large number of years thus feeling a sense of belongingness to an extended family. “They have seen in Farsons, an industry with a serious sense of entrepreneurship, and most importantly a vision for the future,” said the President. 

Prof. de Marco underlined that the element of competition, should be confronted with determination and will: “Whilst in today’s ever-changing world, competition in industry has become a most important and present factor, nevertheless this aspect has to be encountered with new solutions in hand. Being alert on market changes and keeping up with quality standards, are the main components in determining a successful outcome in the future.”

Making reference to the recent White Paper for the modernisation of the Public Service, Prof. de Marco spoke about the need that Malta can never look back in history. “The discussion and implementation of change is a vital process which has to take place in every sector of the nation. We have to be constantly vigilant to such happenings and adapt accordingly for our main benefits. ”

Concluding, President de Marco, whilst thanking the Chairman and Directors of Farsons Group, underlined that his visit was a positive experience in so far as entrepreneurship values are concerned. “You demonstrate a strong sense of enterprise and a sound vision for the future. This, combined with your social conscience and sense of vocation has guaranteed in making Farsons a household name.”

In a few words prior to the Prof. de Marco’s address, the Chairman of the Group, Mr Bryan Gera, said that the President’s visit to the Brewery was a sign of appreciation to the company’s achievements throughout these years, and an encouragement to those yet to come.
