Ribena and Birdlife Malta in new educational campaign 11/10/2003

Ribena, together with Birdlife Malta, have launched a new educational campaign aimed at primary school students.

The campaign consists of a calendar wall-chart with photos and relevant information about eight birds which can be found on the Maltese Islands. The photos are printed faintly on the chart and the students can collect full-colour stickers to affix on the appropriate part of the chart, completing a bright and colourful 2004 calendar for their bedroom or classroom.

The birds featured on the calendar are the Hoopoe, Kingfisher, Robin, Blue Rock Thrush, Sardinian Warbler, Grey Heron, Yellow Wagtail and the Black-Necked Grebe. Each bird is made up of eight stickers the same size as football stickers which children like to collect.

The chart will be distributed free of charge to schools through Birdlife Malta. Stickers will be given out free in strips of four with every 25cl pack of Ribena purchased from any shop in Malta and Gozo. This promotion will be available until stocks last. Posters with further information will also be distributed in schools.

Mr. Pierre Stafrace, Marketing Manager at Simonds Farsons Cisk plc, said, “This is an excellent association for Ribena. Collecting these stickers and exchanging duplicates with friends will encourage children to discuss and learn more about the featured birds, helping them to appreciate our wonderful bird life, whilst enjoying a drink which is a rich source of vitamin C, essential for a healthy diet.”

Ribena is produced in 25cl packs by Simonds Farsons Cisk plc under licence from GlaxoSmithKline Group of Companies.
