Pizza Hut raises funds for four charities 10/31/2003

As part of its 10th Anniversary celebrations, Pizza Hut ran a radio marathon in collaboration with four leading radio stations during September 2003. A donation from every pizza purchased was donated to four charitable institutions - Dar Nazareth, the Ursuline Creche, Dar il-Kaptan and Dar tal-Providenza.

Representatives from Capital Radio, Radio 101, Super One Radio and Radio X.FM presented the donations to the respective charities. During the marathon, the radio stations promoted one particular Pizza Hut restaurant and ten cents from each pizza sold went towards the station’s sponsored charitable institution.

“Over Lm1000 was donated,” said Food Chain. Business Manager – Stefania Conte. “Our 10th Anniversary celebration has not only been a celebration for the management and employees but has also helped and supported charitable institutions.”

The sum has been distributed according to the amount of money collected from the four different Pizza Hut restaurants in Valletta, Sliema, St. Julians and Fgura.

“As an added bonus, Pizza Hut also donated Lm150 to Dar tal-Providenza as their sponsored restaurant in Sliema collected the most money.  Radio 101 promoted the Sliema restaurant through the special fund raising programme,” added Ms Conte.

The other chosen charities of each radio station were: the Ursuline Creche of G’Mangia for Capital Radio, Dar Nazareth for Super One Radio and Dar il-Kaptan for Radio X.FM.

During the same period, Pizza Hut organised another major promotional activity – an original pizza-topping competition. The five finalists have been chosen and a panel of judges will shortly be tasting all five Pizza’s to determine the winner. The stunning prize is two airfares to New York City, courtesy of Howards Travel and Lufthansa.

Food Chain Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of Simonds Farsons Cisk plc, operates the Pizza Hut franchise in Malta.
