Media.Link Photographer Wins Kinnie Basketball Photography Competition 9/12/2003

Mr John Guillaumier, a press photographer with Media.Link Communications Limited which publishes In-Nazzjon and the weekly Il-Mument, was voted first in the 3rd edition of the Kinnie Basketball Photography Competition.

The photography competition was held throughout the Kinnie Basketball National Men's League 2002 / 2003 season, during which period the general public was invited to visit the Kinnie website, www.kinnie.com, to vote for their favourite photograph.

The second best voted photo was submitted by Mr Rene Rossignaud, a press photographer with Standard Publications Limited, which publishes The Malta Independent, The Malta Independent on Sunday and The Malta Business Weekly. Mr Michael Ellul, a press photographer with Media.Link Communications Limited, was voted in the third place.

Media.Link Communications Limited, whose photographers won the most votes, was also presented with an award. Media.Link Sports Editor, Mr Manuel Gauci, received this award on behalf of the company.

Mr John Guillaumier was presented with the Kinnie Basketball Photography Competition trophy and Lm200 cash prize by Mr Pierre Stafrace, Farsons' Marketing Manager.

Mr Rossignaud and Mr Ellul received a trophy and a cash prize of Lm100 and Lm50 respectively. The voting public was also rewarded - Naomi Muscat from Attard, won a Polaroid 636 Instant Camera.

After every game in the National Men's League, print media photographers were invited to send in the best action shots captured on film and published by their respective newspaper. Subsequently these photos were posted on the Kinnie website: www.kinnie.com and anyone who hit the site could vote for their favourite photo.

"Kinnie has become synonymous with basketball in Malta. The Kinnie Basketball Photography Competition is part of our longstanding efforts to promote the basketball game in Malta and to encourage people to enjoy this exciting sport," said Mr Pierre Stafrace. "The competition offers the public the opportunity to view some of the best action shots taken during the Kinnie National Men's League season taken by Malta's best press photographers. Those who miss these photos in the papers can always see them on our website."
