Manager - Brewing Operations 15/01/2018

A vacancy has arisen for the post of Manager – Brewing Operations. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the selected candidate will be responsible to provide overall leadership and direction for all brewery operations from malt intake to bright beer and the Water Treatment Plant including the maintenance to the said operations to achieve improving results in safety, quality, service and efficiency.

The selected candidates will be mainly required to:

  • Motivate the Brewing team to maximise the brewery productivity and employee engagement to the core set values the company encompasses in its vision;
  • Safely optimize the brewing capacity and customer requirements to develop world class standards of operation, monitoring and evaluating performance;
  • Forecast and develop operational plans and objectives and together with Brewers and Supervisors ensure the implementation of such plans, whilst managing budgets and inventory control;
  • Ensure the application of robust people management skills across the operation, maintaining a positive, progressive and safe working environment;
  • Together with Brewers and supervisors schedule the appropriate training needs of employees to ensure that standard operating procedures maintain the quality, consistency and efficiency of all the brewing and water treatment processes;
  • Ensure the development of plans to facilitate strategic decisions especially with respect to the product development of beer products;
  • Work with Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Finance and HR Management to maximise productivity and to produce high quality beer whilst maximizing the effectiveness of resources;
  • Develop and implement appropriate financial controlling systems for operational KPIs so that
  • the Brewery continually meets the set corporate commitments, performance standards and objectives;
  • Develop and manage the implementation of plant capital projects related to the Brewery and Water Treatment facilities.

Most importantly, candidates are required to:

  • Have an established career and passion in the manufacturing industry, and be in possession of an advanced science and management qualification from accredited programs or any other relevant qualification/s;
  • Be extremely organized, detail oriented with strong analytical skills and can handle complex tasks;
  • Be driven to maintain the highest sanitization and safety standards;
  • Have proven strategic and leadership skills and be able to cultivate a motivated and engaged workforce;
  • Possess proven process problem-solving skills and be able to solve challenges;
  • Brewing experience and qualifications will be considered an asset.
