Farsons Group employees recognised in Cause for Applause awards

The Cause for Applause awards, held on Friday 3rd June at the Corinthia Ballroom in Attard, celebrated four outstanding Farsons Group employees in three categories: Shine & Sparkle, Wellness and Zest, as well as the top Cause for Applause award. Thirty employees from across the Group were nominated for these awards by their managers.

The evening, compered by Keith Demicoli, was presided over by the Chairman of Farsons Group, Mr Louis A. Farrugia and the Group Chief Executive, Mr Norman Aquilina, together with the Company Secretary and Group HR Manager, Ms Antoinette Caruana. The attendees included the nominees in each category as well as Group management.

“We are extremely proud of our Group’s achievements as well as our employees. Together, as one team, we are more able to achieve continued success and overcome new challenges,” commented Mr Norman Aquilina.

Ms Antoinette Caruana added, “The Farsons Group firmly believes that the majority of its employees strive to adopt those desirable behaviours reflected in the Group’s high ethical values, in the way we conduct our business, with each other, with our clients and our stakeholders alike. These awards are a reflection of this belief.”

Mr John Bugeja, Machinist on the PET Line, was the winner of the Shine & Sparkle award, which recognizes excellence in quality consciousness and practice that is not limited to housekeeping and cleanliness but includes quality service of the highest standards. The Wellness award was awarded to Mr Derek Curmi, previously Water Vendor at Eco Pure. This award applauds employees that adopt and promote healthy lifestyles as well as health and safety practices at the workplace. The winner of the third category, the Zest award, was Ms Janice Baldacchino, Security Clerk/ Receptionist. This award applauds outstanding positive attitude and behaviour that fosters healthy, professional relationships with colleagues and clients.

Ms Patricia Bugeja, Team Leader at Pizza Hut, was awarded the final and top award, the Cause for Applause award, which recognizes those individuals that are seen as role models of excellence, shown through consistency in attitude, integrity, respect, motivation and dynamism in their daily work life and beyond.

The Cause for Applause awards were launched by the Farsons Group last year and are now an annual celebration of its employees. Overall the Group’s message to its employees is that ‘Everyone is a Winner’, making a difference to the Group’s ambitions and their realisation.
