Farsons sponsors the restoration of Ta' Qali Park Fountain 5/3/2004

Simonds Farsons Cisk plc has supported the initiative of the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment to restore the main fountain at the Ta’ Qali National Park.

The inauguration of the restored fountain was held on Friday 30th April, the eve of the EU Enlargement.

Mr George Pullicino, Minister for Rural Affairs and the Environment thanked Farsons for their financial support to have the fountain restored in order to embellish the National Park which is enjoyed by the general public throughout the year.

Mr Anthony J. Tabone, Deputy Chief Executive – Marketing of Simonds Farsons Cisk plc said that this initiative deserved the support of the commercial community and Farsons had always demonstrated a high sense of social responsibility and it could not refuse the offer made by by Ministry of Rural Affairs and the Environment to co-operate in the project.

The need for the restoration and refurbishing of the fountain became even more necessary when the fountain’s mechanical equipment was destroyed through the flooding in last Autumn’s rains.   The project served as a very good opportunity for technical personnel from the private sector to work closely with those of the public sector and this resulted in the work being completed on schedule.

The inauguration of the fountain was followed by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by Minister George Pullicino and the planting of an oak tree sapling by Mr Anthony Tabone.

Attending the ceremony was also Architect George Buhagiar – Head Parks Unit  in the Ministry for Rural Affairs and Environment.
